Theology for Daily Living
God is not subject to or dependent on people in any way whatsoever. He is sovereignly in control
of everything. Because this is true people must come to Him on His terms and by the means that
He alone designates. No person is free to come to God unbidden and attempt to negotiate or
dictate the terms of the relationship. At its foundation salvation from sin depends not on what people do
or say but on what God has done to provide a Savior for them.
God’s plan for the display of His glory through the redemption of His creation is God’s plan. He did not
consult people in its development. He does not submit it to people for approval or correction. He does not
ask for advice as to the timing of its outworking in His world. What he asks of us is that we believe in Him.
That means that we believe that He is wise, strong and good as He has revealed it to be so in His
Scriptures; that His plan is true and perfect; and that He has worked, is working and will work in the most
effective, efficient way possible to bring His will to pass. Our future is secured in His work and our hope
can be in no surer or safer person.
