Study Section 11: Chapter 10 - Salvation Illustrated in Israel -
God’s Offer of Salvation to All People.
11.1 Connect
Do you like people doing special things for you, like you were a charity case? Most people
don’t like to take charity. They would rather earn their money or things by working for
them. People who live with their hands out all the time for charity are distained by most
people.
The same people to don’t care for charity are self-dependent. They run their own lives and
solve their own problems. But in God’s kingdom, righteousness only comes to those who trust in Christ
alone. Here is the key verse in Chapter 10 of Romans:
The righteousness before the law that the Jews tried to establish by their own works is provided
only through trust in Christ who kept the law for all people and who saves those who call upon
Him.
While Jesus walked the earth, He obeyed the Law of Moses (not the laws of the Pharisees) perfectly. He
kept the whole Law. Why? He was God, of course He kept the Law. He was also 100% human so he
obediently, by an act of His will, obeyed the Law. Why? Because He was doing that for you and me. He
kept the Law for every person, not just the elect. But is only those who call upon Him that received His
righteousness!
11.2 Objectives
1. Students should be able to point out that God offers salvation to ALL people, not just some
who are of the elect.
2. Students should be able to recognize that Israel, for the most part, have rejected their Messiah,
but are still capable of receiving salvation.
6.3 The Passage: Romans 10:1-21

I testify to them that zeal for God they have but not according to knowledge; for being
ignorant of the God of righteousness and their own righteousness seeking to establish, to the
righteousness of God they do not submit; for the end of law is Christ unto righteousness for all
who are believing.
The Jews, by seeking to establish their own righteousness, do not submit to Christ and thus do not have the
righteousness that He provides to those who trust in Him.
For Moses wrote of the righteousness which was out of the law that “the man who does these things will
live by them.” But of the out of faith righteousness thus he says, “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will
ascend into heaven?’” this is Christ to bring down; or “Who will go down into the Abyss?” this is Christ out
of the death to bring up. But what does it say?
“Near you the word is in your mouth and in your heart.”
The righteousness before the law that the Jews tried to establish by their own works is provided only
through trust in Christ who kept the law for all people and who saves those who call upon Him.
This is the word of faith which we are preaching. Because if you would confess with your mouth, ‘Lord
