karma that you and I should meet at this time and place and reunite
the two halves.
PEABODY: Blasphemy! I’ll have nothing to do with you or your
shawl, you—you—idol-worshipper!
VISHNANDA: As you wish.
MACALLISTER: (brings glass to Oglethorpe) Here you are, sir.
OGLETHORPE: Oh, please, Miss MacAllister, can’t you be a little
less formal? After all, we are in great danger here together, and I did
save your life.
MACALLISTER: Mr. Oglethorpe—
OGLETHORPE: Call me Nick. What is your first name?
MACALLISTER: Lucille. Don’t think I’m ungrateful, Mr.
Oglethorpe, but I must perform my duties. You are not the only
passenger I need to look after.
OGLETHORPE: Lucille. I’d like to get to know you better, Lucille.
Do you live in San Francisco or Los Angeles?
MACALLISTER: You must realize, sir, that I am not permitted to
discuss personal matters with passengers. (turns and walks back to
galley)
METCALF: Well, how does it look, Captain: will we make it?
MATTHEWS: It’s getting too cloudy to see the coast anymore. At
least the altimeter still works. I can try to stay high enough to avoid
crashing into the mountains if we get blown ashore before morning.
METCALF: (looks at watch) Another four hours until sunrise. No
problem with the fuel?
MATTHEWS: That depends on how long we have to stay aloft.
METCALF: Hmm. Listen, I’ve got to question some of these people,
away from the others. Can I bring them in here?
