Murder on the Dirigible

MATTHEWS: I can’t explain it. She had nothing to do with killing
        Fisk, I tell you.

OGLETHORPE: Say, Metcalf, maybe you’ve got it backwards. It
        wouldn’t be the first time.

        METCALF: Eh?

OGLETHORPE: Suppose it’s the other way: suppose he’s covering
        up for her.

METCALF: Now, that’s a point. But it leaves me nowhere. Maybe
they were in cahoots. She distracted Fisk while Matthews put the
weapon on his chair. Maybe they hoped nobody would notice the
puncture wound and she would be able to remove the golf tee
afterwards. So we’ll charge them both, and let a jury figure it out.

MATTHEWS: Oglethorpe, I could kill you and your father both!

        METCALF: No more threats!

OGLETHORPE: Let him rant and rave! I thought she was cute, but
I never dreamed she was the Captain’s girlfriend. (Matthews attempts
to go after Oglethorpe, but is restrained by Metcalf)

MACALLISTER: Don’t fight, please! Oh, why did it have to turn out
this way? (cries, lapses into French) Ce n’est pas juste! La famille est
vraiement finie. Oh, maman, que ferai-je?

METCALF: Hey, stop that foreign talk. If you’ve got something to
        say, say it in English.

MATTHEWS: Metcalf, you understand my motive for killing Fisk,
but you’re wrong about Lucille. She must have figured out you were
going to find out about me, so she hoped to divert your attention.

METCALF: But why? Why should she shield you, unless she was in
        love with you?

MATTHEWS: She’s very upset. She just found out a few minutes
ago that I am her father.
