Mental contusion.
HALFWIT 1:
Now we’ll discover
Why it is we walked
HALFWIT 2:
All the way up here—
Not one of us balked;
HALFWIT 3:
But neither had we
Seriously talked.
HALFWIT 1:
So the reason for it
Must be external:
HALFWIT 2:
Our wonderment might
Have been eternal.
HALFWIT 3:
Truly such a fate
Would be infernal!
RIVAL 1: So you can’t recall what motivated you to come here?
HALFWIT 1: Was a picnic scheduled? It seems a good spot for one.
HALFWIT 2: Actually, I thought it might be a funeral; there aren’t
enough people here for a picnic.
HALFWIT 3: No, no, no. We’re too far from home for it to be
anything but a major migration. It must be the season to move
upstream.
RIVAL 1: Why, that’s it exactly! You see, your memory hasn’t failed
