Those otherworld barbarians had blown
Half the wall away with some tool unknown—
To me at least—I hadn’t heard a thing,
Yet tons of steel and concrete it could fling
Into oblivion as if to show
Mankind how easily their kind could go
Through any barrier we might erect:
They would treat us with contempt not respect.
