The Cuttlefish Man
“You’ll never get away with it!” said I;
“They’ll hunt you down and hang you up to dry!”
Can a cuttlefish sneer? That’s what he did.
“If you had paid attention to me, kid,
You’d know that I have nothing left to fear:
I’ll be dead and gone in less than a year.
Out in the sea I’ll end my days in peace;
It won’t be hard to avoid the police.”
