As an example of what not to do,
Uncle was simply too good to be true:
Falling asleep at the wheel of a car,
Driving some teen-agers home from a bar.
Finally after four decades and more,
Medical science arrived at the door.
Suddenly Uncle could open his eyes:
Blinking and squinting and trying to rise.
Slowly we fed him both broth and the news,
Giving no more than we thought he could use.
Exercise lifted him back on his feet,
Helping him show up at mealtimes to eat.
