Portraits: familial
latter’s left elbow. Thus, barely-suppressed grief on the left,
physical support on the right. Both men wear modern suits, the
detail lightly incised. The man on the left wears a hat, but the
comforter does not, revealing a thick head of hair; this may
indicate the relative youth of the man on the right. It may not
be coincidental that this piece came into the hands of David
Rothstein, Ben’s son; that also suggests that it may have been
carved on Orange Street, when AR and his brother were in
daily contact again after many years.
