Other fruits, like cherries and peaches, have one large seed called a stone.
In summer, days are the longest and the warmest. Trees soak up lots of sunlight because their branches are covered in leaves.
Trees grow many different kinds of fruit. Some fruits, like apples and pears, are soft and have many seeds inside them called pips.
Some types of tree grow their
seeds inside fruit with hard shells called nuts. They protect the seeds and when they are ready, they fall off the tree so the seeds can spread.
Some trees grow their seeds in cones. When they are ripe, the cone opens up and the papery seeds are scattered.
Some trees have wing-shaped fruit like helicopters that help the seeds travel far and wide on the wind.
