MightY minibeasts
Minibeasts often make their homes in trees because they like to eat the leaves or bark. This isn’t very healthy for the trees, so they have some special ways to protect themselves from hungry insects.
Some trees release a sticky liquid called resin which traps insects to stop them nibbling

Some types of tree can send bitter-tasting chemicals to their leaves, so the insect will move on to a different tree. And when some types of tree are attacked by tiny aphids, they can even release a special scent to attract larger ladybirds to eat them up!
