All kinds of other animals live in trees too, because they provide plenty of food – especially for animals that like eating minibeasts!
High up in the branches, birds build their nests from sticks and feathers. Here they can keep their eggs and chicks safe from predators on the ground, like foxes.
Squirrels scamper from tree to tree looking for nuts, seeds and fruit to eat. They also sleep in nests made from twigs, which are called dreys.

Woodpeckers drill tree trunks with their beak to dig out juicy minibeasts
to eat. In springtime, they peck even larger holes in the tree trunk to make cosy homes. Once they have finished nesting in them, other animals move in.

Some animals,
like foxes and moles, make their dens and tunnels underneath trees. They use their sharp claws to dig among the roots.
