                 “Sorry, sorry, I meant lentils,” said Dad hurriedly. I filled Fabien in on my plan to find a camera, and the pair of us climbed into Lady Agatha, ready to set sail. Luckily Margot was busy revising for her pilot’s licence test, even though she couldn’t take it yet. I didn’t want her to find out about the camera and start interfering. The less she knew about our movie the better, seeing as she didn’t
want to help with it.
I held on to Lady Agatha as Dad started the
engine and we clonked out to sea. A leak sprang at the stern, where a cork had popped loose. We grabbed a plastic tea set out of the picnic basket, which Mum kept on board for such occasions, and began scooping the water out.
Dad moored up next to Doug’s boat shack and set about repairing the leak with him, while Fabien and I raced towards The Wig and Pen. I couldn’t wait to tell Kai all about our movie, but there was no sign of him inside the deserted pub-shop, so I went off to find him out the back.
Sure enough, Kai was sat in the little courtyard. He was surrounded by his rescue rabbits, the inspiration for my own donkey sanctuary. I picked
