my way through the sea of twitching noses, and Fabien cuddled a lop-ear called Julio. A rabbit hopped over to me and I gave him a dandelion while filling Kai in on our idea. The toothless rabbit slurped its snack like an old man eating spaghetti.
“So, what do you think?” I asked Kai, after explaining everything.
“I think the movie’s a great idea!” he said. “We could film my play for it too.”
Of course, Kai’s play! I’d forgotten all about it in the excitement.
Kai’s dad used to run the Wishnook Community Theatre in his spare time, but it had fallen into disrepair after he’d died. Kai had spent the last six months getting it ready to reopen and had written a play for the town to perform at the end of summer. He was intending to hold auditions later that week for the parts of Venus the planet and Spartacus the Roman alien.
“I might have to shorten the performance time a bit, though...” he mused.
“Why, how long is it?” I asked, as a rabbit nibbled my shoe.
