Gaius Marius — one of Rome's TOUGHEST military leaders — was the first person to have surgery without being tied down. You know things aren't going to be a jolly old giggle if the doc ties you to the bed before he gets his scalpel out. If you spot a rope beside the dentist's chair, run!

It was said that strains and bruises could be treated with WIlD bOaR dUnG gathered in spring and dried. Fresh dung could also be smeared on. Mind you, if you already stank of cabbage and wee, some pig poo wasn't going to make much difference.
   I'm not sure a whole wheelbarrow of poo is really necessary for a stubbed toe!
