Not surprisingly, all of these hOrRiD characters met a gRiSlY EnD. Caligula was murdered by his own guards; Nero was declared an enemy of the state – so he ran away and then killed himself; and Commodus was strangled in his bath by an assassin sent by his political enemies (who also happened to love giraffes).
So next time you get a telling off for playing the fool in school, just be thankful your head teacher isn’t a Roman emperor.

FANCY THAT!
When he was 11 years old Commodus complained that his bath water was too cold and ordered the man responsible to be thrown into the furnace! A sheepskin was burned instead so the cruel boy would think the deed had been done. Talk about overreacting!
