    9th July Eid al-Adha
This is an Islamic festival that marks the end of the hajj pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca. It commemorates how Ibrahim was willing to sacrifice his son Isma’il to God. Allah stopped the sacrifice and gave Ibrahim a lamb to kill instead. A version of this story is also found in the Jewish Torah and the Old Testament of the Christian Bible.
Many Muslims wear new clothes or their nicest outfits for this festival and attend a prayer service at a mosque. They also send Eid cards to family and friends, donate money to charity, and give each other gifts.
