   Why is July Called July?
It was named to honour the Roman statesman Julius Caesar as it was the month in which he was born (12th July). Before that, it was known as Quintilis – Latin for ‘fifth’ – as this was the fifth month in the Roman year before the calendar was changed. The Anglo-Saxons called it Heymonath as this is haymaking time.

it the Hay Moon because of haymaking or Wort Moon as
it’s the time to gather herbs
(or worts) for using as flavouring and medicine.
