You will need:
1 orange
1 small jar of dried whole cloves
1 cocktail stick some ribbon scissors
Perfect Pomanders
It’s so much fun to turn an orange into a sweet-smelling pomander! You can hang one in a wardrobe or room to make the air smell amazing. They are beautiful presents too, especially during the festive season.
First, lay your ribbon across the top of your orange. Wrap it in a criss-cross around the orange, just like a parcel. Tie the ends of the ribbon tightly in a pretty bow at the top.
Carefully use your cocktail stick to poke a hole in the orange rind. Then poke a clove into the hole, using the pointy end. Do this until the whole orange is covered in cloves! You could even make a pretty pattern or a smiley face.
When you’ve finished, hang
up your orange to dry out in a warm, airy place. After about four weeks, it should be nice and dry. If it has shrunk a little bit, you might need to tie the ribbon a little tighter.
Now your pomander is ready to give to a lucky person, who will think of you every time they smell its lovely scent.
