CHEERFUL TREE COSY
Some winter trees can look very bare without all their lovely leaves, flowers and fruit. But how about brightening one up with a colourful ‘tree cosy’?
If you know how to make a plait, you can start by plaiting together different colours of wool . . . but just a single strand of wool works too! You can mix and match your materials however you like.
Loop your wool, scarf or fabric once round the tree’s trunk and tie the end in a good, strong knot or run round the tree, quick as you can, winding your wool round the trunk again and again! Don’t pull it too tight, so your tree can stretch and grow.
Wrap it high, wrap it low, and change the colours as you go – now your tree will be happy and cosy in all kinds of weather! When your tree cosy starts to look a bit worn, remember to take it down, ready for spring’s bright leaves
and flowers to come again.
