legend. Caitlyn and Emily are convinced that the diamond doesn’t even exist – but they think that Snyde killed their mother for it and is now after them, and so they decide to leave Edge.
In the present day, Ms Bright/ Emily tells Lily, Sam and
Jay her story – but she doesn’t know how made the museum or what it’s for. She tells the children to stop investigating, warning them that Snyde is dangerous. And the next week, at a winter party on the beach, Ms Bright is discovered unconscious in the water – she has been attacked.
After the police refuse to take Lily, Sam and Jay seriously they decide that they have to continue investigating.They follow Snyde to the beach, but suddenly he disappears, into one of the caves in the cliff face.They try to go
after him but the tide comes in and the children almost drown.
With the help of a teacher at school, the children realise that the dedications on the benches pair up to form rhyming couplets, and, when read together, form a clue which point them in the direction of an old lighthouse.
They go to the lighthouse to investigate – it has been abandoned for years, and when they reach its top floor, where the lighthouse beacon should be, they find a large diamond.
They’re interrupted by Snyde, who has followed them there and attacks them. Lily throws the diamond out of the lighthouse window, and the police arrive before
