As time rolled on and iron tools and weapons became a thing, a little more comes into view . . .
For instance, glass gaming pieces have been found in Iron Age graves – and where there’s gaming pieces, there have to be games. What those games were isn’t known, but they could have been some form of board games. Which means that there were almost certainly massive arguments happening
in roundhouses because Cynwrig accused Nechtan of cheating by hiding some glass gaming pieces inside his woollen underpants, which is sO uNfAiR!
Small discs, like games counters, have also been found on Orkney. It’s thought they could belong to types of board games archaeologists don’t yet know about.
Aside from the whole ‘hanging out with the fam by the fireside playing games’ thing, kids probably would have enjoyed pastimes such as practising their target skills with slingshots or fighting with wooden swords, perhaps one day dreaming about becoming warriors.
I think you might need a new wooden sword.
Because that´s an ice lolly stick.
So if you ever get so uNbElIeVaBlY bored that your brain jumps out of your earhole and runs off down the street, just take a moment to remember how incredibly LuCkY you are that you have wheels, electricity and billionty-hundred gadgets to choose from!

FANCY THAT!
A game found in an Iron Age grave in Stanway, England, consists of 26 blue and white glass counters and a chequered board. There were no dice, which means it was probably a game of strategy. There were also no controllers, chargers or plugs due to a rather inconvenient lack of electricity.
