Diet
What scrummy delight do you have for lunch today? If you have a packed lunch, perhaps you have a limp cheese sandwich that’s got a bit, you know, sweaty, after sitting in your bag in a hot classroom all morning. Mmmmm, sweaty cheese that tastes like a bogeyman’s pants. Yum.
Or maybe you’re getting lunch from the school canteen. You know, the one with the evil-looking dinner lady who SnEeZeS in the soup to give it extra flavour . . .
But if you think YoU’vE GoT iT BaD, stop grumbling and check this out.
At least you have sandwiches, pasta, chips and the like to choose from. Back in ancient Greek times, there were fewer things on the menu . . . and some pretty WeIrD stuff.
Soggy Wine-bread
Soggy wine-bread or curdled milk and cheese pancakes?
To kick their day off ancient Greeks ate bread (so far, so normal) dipped in WInE! For brekkie? YuCkEtY-yUcK! Try concentrating on your sums in class after that.
Errrr, are there any cornflakes? Toast and jam?
A banana?
Another breakfast fave was teganites, which were
a bit like pancakes. If you think that sounds OK, they were made with wheat flour, olive oil, honey . . . and CuRdLeD mIlK! They were topped with honey or, if you were rich, cheese. Bleeeuuurrrgh!
Just a glass of water for me, thanks.
