Rich Greeks obviously had more time and money for fun – especially men. They held dinner parties, visited the gymnasium, Watched plays and enjoyed games. But most women, poor Greeks, farmers and slaves had little time for leisure activities.
 Socrates
As well as all that fun, ancient Greece had some of the greatest thinkers the world has ever known – like Socrates, Plato and Aristotle.
So it seems life could be just dandy, some of the time at least. Even if they did very occasionally eat pelicans.
Although there Weren’t many CiNeMaS around, theatres were very popular. Ancient Greek theatres were amazing places, often carved out of hillsides, and could be enormous. The theatre at Epidauros could seat 14,000 people! All the actors were men who wore masks.

FANCY THAT!
Despite being one of the greatest thinkers of all time, the philosopher Socrates was accused of corrupting young people and sentenced to death by poison, all because some of the people in charge didn´t like his ideas!
