Medicine changed for the ancient Greeks when
a man called started treating patients. He started a medical school and taught students how to look for symptoms and figure out what the problem was, just like doctors do today.
Some ancient Greek doctors believed people could be cured by making them bleed. This was called ‘bloodletting’. A doctor cut the patient’s veins and let the blood flow into a bowl. Sometimes a
was placed on their body to suck the blood.
