DAY 1: THE GOD OF PEACE
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you;
not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart
be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
John 14:27
In October 2017, after several medical tests, I finally got the
result. I have aggressive and advanced stage three breast
cancer. With its size, I will have to undergo chemotherapy,
surgery, and radiation. After briefly discussing with the
Doctor, I headed home and walked to my car. I turned on the
radio. This is what I heard:
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you…”
I felt His presence when He assured me through His Word
that He would never leave or forsake me. He held my hand
when I was afraid. He embraced me when I was discouraged
through this painful journey.
I praise the God of Peace. He cares. He heals. He helps. He
understands the pain. He will comfort you the same way he
comforted me.
This is what Fae, my daughter-in-law, once wrote: “When
we first found out Mama was diagnosed with cancer, our
hearts broke. Many loved ones have fought difficult fights
with cancer, so this was unwelcome news. During this
season, our faith community and loved ones surrounded her
with prayer like a fortified wall. The battle for Mama was
