THE PROSPEROUS WAY
“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be
food in my house . Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and
see if I will not open the floodgates of heaven, and pour out so
much blessing that you will not have room enough for it. I will
prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in the
field will not cast their fruit.” (Malachi 3:10-11)
Honour the Lord with your wealth , with the first fruits of all your
crops: Then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your
vats will brim over with new wine. (Proverbs 3:9)
Taking care of God’s house is perhaps one of the best-kept secrets to
financial prosperity! Building God’s house has many facets. To build
God’s house doesn’t only mean giving money, although that is an
important aspect. Building God’s house also means getting involved in
the work of the ministry; pitching in to help wherever you can. It means
finding out what you’re good at doing in the house of God and doing
it. It means participating regularly in corporate prayer and corporate
worship. So, get involved! You don’t have to spend every free moment
in church, but certainly ensure that your part in contributing to the work
of the ministry, however small, is done. It could be simply placing
offering envelopes in the chair pockets before service, or making coffee
for after-service fellowship, or clearing the snow from the entranceway.
The body of Christ is built up by that which every part supplies and the
work of the ministry is made up of many small tasks (1 Corinthians 12:14-
27). So, you don’t have to do it all! But when you are plugged in and
doing your small part to make the body strong and whole, then you can
confidently ask God to honour His promise and plug the holes in your
financial bucket.
GIVING TO THOSE IN NEED
Earlier on, we established how important it is to have a generous heart.
Nothing could seem more counter-intuitive to prosperity than giving
until you understand God’s heart for the poor and oppressed. This
beautiful earth that He has created has more than enough if we would
simply give.
Giving doesn't have to be reckless, impulsive and uncontrolled. On
occasion, the Holy Spirit may prod us to give extravagantly; like when
Elijah asked the widow woman to give her last store of oil and flour
