DOES GOD REALLY WANT US TO BE RICH?

And we also see this illustrated in His promises to ordinary men and
women, like us, who keep His Word:

“The Lord will grant you abundant prosperity
in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock,
and the crops of your ground…
The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty,
to send you rain on your land in season,
and to bless all the work of your hands.”
(Deuteronomy 28:11-12)

At the same time, we cannot ignore the Scriptures’ stern warning
against greed; because an excessive focus on and eagerness for material
wealth (the love of money) can indicate a heart heading in the wrong
direction. Therefore, we will explore the issue of greed more deeply in
the next chapter when we ask ourselves the question “How much is
enough?”

For now, I believe it's fair to conclude that prosperity for the Christian is
a journey that leads to success in all its dimensions, including material
sufficiency. However, as we will see as we explore the Scriptures over
the next few chapters, it is a road that we can only successfully navigate
with the lamp of the Word of God. It is a good road set before us and, if
we light our way with the Word, I believe that step by step, God will
make our way prosperous.

“May God be gracious to us and bless us,
and cause His face to shine upon us, Selah
that Your ways may be known on earth,
Your salvation among all nations….
God blesses us,
that all the ends of the earth shall fear Him.”
(Psalms 67:1-2&7)
