Book Club Questions
1. What do you think of the subtitle of Kelita’s book?
Are you honestly inspired by someone’s journey through
trauma, abuse and betrayal or would you rather read a
different type of inspirational saga ... like climbing a
mountain with a disability or forging a new life after divorce?
2. Is there any specific incident or scene in Kelita’s memoir
that resonates with you?
Which traumatic situation in Kelita’s book - incest, suicide,
death, divorce, adultery, emotional abuse - resonated with
you most? Why?
3. What are some of the themes in the memoir? ( Resilience,
shame, trauma, infidelity…)
Did you find it incredulous that so many traumatic events
could happen to one person in one lifetime? Did you find the
‘true story’ completely believable?
4. How could Jimmy, (Kelita’s brother who sexually assaulted
her) be her “favourite”? ( innocence, trust, nature of abusive
relationships?)
Why do you think it was possible for Jimmy, who sexually
molested Kelita as a child, to still be her favourite brother?
