          SECURING YOUR DEVICES TO PROTECT
          YOUR PERSONAL DATA

On all devices, you can protect your personal information
with optional security measures. In addition to following
good cybersecurity practices, using the security features
built into your devices will help you avoid revealing your
personal information. Every new device should include
instructions on how to keep your personal information
safe while using that device. With these suggestions,
you can take advantage of your device’s built-in security
          features.

Examine the privacy statement: That lengthy and detailed
page will explain how your smartphone shares your
personal information with installed apps and websites
you visit. You can use the settings to improve your
          privacy.

Make sure your phone or tablet is secure: Automatic
login options make it simple to access data on your
preferred device. They also make it easier for others to
access your data. Use a strong password and a two-
step verification mechanism to unlock your smartphone
whenever possible. When not in use, always lock your
          smartphone.

Make use of device security software: Many smartphones
come with pre-installed security software. Make it a point
to learn how the provided security package compares to
competing options. Install additional security software
as needed to ensure complete security.

Before you throw away any type of computer or
smartphone, delete all of your personal information:
