Keeping Your Data Safe

are simply crooks attempting to gain access to your
personal information or your entire network. Phishing
scams can be carried out through a variety of channels,
including the phone, email, text message, and social
networking websites. Typically, phishing scams involve
attackers sending fraudulent emails or text messages
disguised as legitimate in order to obtain your personal
or sensitive information or to carry out some malicious
intent. If you receive an unknown notification from one of
your email accounts or text, do not click on the provided
links; instead, use your browser to check your account to

PUT AN END TO YOUR HABIT OF IGNORING
            UPDATES

Installing software updates may appear to be a waste of
time, but it is not. Keeping your apps and device software
up to date ensures that you are protected from the most
recent security threats. Software updates are frequently
used to address previously discovered security flaws.
Turn on automatic updates to keep your operating
system up to date. Chrome, Firefox, and other browsers
should be used because they receive regular automatic
updates and keep extensions up to date.

            AVOID EXCESSIVE SOCIAL MEDIA
            POSTING

Social media is often treated as if it were a private
conversation between friends. Even if you’re not
uploading images of your driver’s license or credit cards,
