RECLAIM YOUR DIGITAL GOLD
4. Stored Indefinitely
Nowadays, it is widespread for us to enter our information
into one system, digital platform, or website and then
move on without thinking about it.
Also, many websites leave their footprint on our
computers or devices because we permitted them to
do so. This is done by accepting their cookies — bits of
information about their site — so the page loads more
efficiently the next time you visit.
Customers frequently save their credit card information
when purchasing online or using an email service; and
this data is commonly kept for an extended period.
Unless you give them permission, most websites that
save your information won’t do much with it. On the other
hand, some websites are insufficiently secure and do not
encrypt their data. As a result, hackers may successfully
break in. The bottom line is that you should be cautious
about what you disclose on the Internet because you
never know where it will lead.
THE SOCIAL IMPLICATIONS OF DATA
Let’s take a look at how data affects society as a whole
and the trends it drives.
1. Medical Care and HealthTech
Data analytics is speeding up research; for example,
DNA strings can now be decoded in minutes, allowing
for faster cure development and the ability to predict
disease patterns more effectively.
