Data is the New GolD
Data is being used in some hospital special units to keep
an eye on premature and sick babies, and the techniques
allow doctors to monitor every heartbeat and breath.
Algorithms that can predict infections 24 hours in
advance of the onset of symptoms are being developed.
The goal of HealthTech is to have enough information
about each individual to provide evidence-based
treatment tailored to them. People could take a more
active role in their health and well-being if they had
precise information like this. Scientists predict that new
smart devices will be used for at home healthcare to
push the envelope even further.
Consider a future in which your toothbrush, toilet, and
scale can all tell you about your health in real-time. We
already have such devices capable of producing the
data needed and making that happen. We also have
the tools to analyze and build the necessary health
insights — they just need to be improved for quality and
reliability and pooled together to provide a comprehensive
health diagnosis for the user.
2. Applied Science
Data analytics has taken scientific research to another
level. Big Data in the science field, for example, generates
such large amounts of data that scientists determine the
composition of the universe.
Data is also being used to aid space exploration.
However, there can be a problem with having too much
data. It is useless unless it can be processed and proven
to be reliable and consistently accurate given the risks of
space exploration.
