Chapter Four

                        PRIVACY –

                 WHAT’S THAT?

e live in a time when quintillions (a million
trillion) of data bytes are produced every day
Wand data volume doubles every two years.
We now have unprecedented access to almost any
information we require, but this access comes at a cost,
i.e., Data for Data. For example, searching for something
on the Internet appears to be harmless, but before you
find the information you’re looking for, you’re bombarded
with advertisements for the same thing. What is the
mechanism that causes these advertisements to appear,
and how does it all work?

            INTERNET TRACKING

Have you ever felt as if commercials were following
you around? From websites to social media feeds, and
possibly even as advertisements on the streaming
            service you use the most.
