Privacy – What’s that?

This does not necessarily mean that you or the data
collected about you are in danger. However, we should
all be aware of how and why our data is collected. In the
end, it is our own data.

            AN OVERVIEW OF INTERNET TRACKING

Internet tracking is the practice of monitoring and
analyzing the activities of Internet users, typically with
the goal of providing a more personalized experience
            while they browse the web.

In layman’s terms, Internet tracking is the process by
which websites analyze our behavior when we visit
them. It’s also more common than you’d think, with 79
percent of websites allegedly engaging in the practice. It
is critical to note that tracking users on websites is not
illegal, but it is also not widely known.

WHY DO WEBSITES LOG OUR ACTIVITIES?

People have an irrational belief that the more they know,
the more they can comprehend. However, that is, in
essence, the idea behind Internet tracking: the more
information websites have about us, the better they
            understand how to entertain us.

This can result in a faster and more convenient website
browsing experience. You might even consider it useful
that YouTube or Netflix is so good at recommending the
show you want to binge-watch next. Or the fact that the
first thing you see when you enter the Amazon website is
the item you want to buy.
