However, when it comes to Internet user monitoring, the
user experience is not the only factor to consider. Here
are some additional reasons why websites monitor us
          as a point of reference:

          1. Some websites may keep your user data but also sell
it to advertising companies in order to target you with
relevant items. This is done so that the websites can
              generate multiple revenue streams.

          2. Some government agencies monitor Internet users’
activities in order to gather intelligence on potentially
              dangerous people.

          3. Companies frequently consult their website analytics,
which reveal the aspects of their online properties
with which customers interact most frequently, to
guide the development of their content strategy
and new product offerings, in order to evaluate the
              company’s success.

          4. When it comes to improving certain aspects of a
website, it is beneficial to keep a close eye on how
website users interact with the site in order to identify
              and correct any problems.

HOW DO WEBSITES KEEP TRACK OF US?

Websites can track us in a variety of ways, and the list
has only grown longer over time. Cookies, however,
remain one of the most widely used data monitoring
mechanisms today. Cookies are used in some capacity
by more than 40% of websites (CookiePro, 2021).
