Once you’re familiar with your reports and have taken action
to correct any issues that may harm your business’s image in the
eyes of creditors, let’s talk about Tier 3 credit.
In this chapter, we will discuss two kinds of Tier 3 credit.
Tier 3 credit tradelines. These may offer big benefits to
your business, but may not be as helpful to building
your credit history as your Tier 1 and Tier 2 tradelines.
TIER 3 CREDIT TRADELINES
Tier 3 credit includes access to tradelines that are valuable for
their own sake. Companies that may not offer credit accounts to
new businesses without much credit history may offer signifi-
cant benefits such as wholesale prices and rewards points to
more established businesses that have thoroughly proven their
ability to pay their invoices reliably.
These tradelines can offer massive value to your business if
they improve your access to products your business may need.
Some examples of major retailers who offer business credit
tradelines to established businesses but not to businesses with
little credit history include industry-specific hardware retailers
such as flooring and auto parts suppliers, Sam’s, Costco, United
Airlines, Apple, Best Buy, and a large number of banks and
credit unions that offer financial products including retirement
portfolios and high-limit credit cards.
While these products may benefit your business, be aware
that many of these Tier 3 credit vendors may NOT report your
successful payments to them to credit reporting agencies. So take
advantage of these elite credit lines if they benefit your business
directly, but be aware that you may find that many of these do
