RADICAL LOVE
This garden is neither a public garden nor a private one. It is enclosed,
sealed off, and barred from the outside world. Neither is it open to being
trampled upon by those who would litter the ground, uproot the exotic
plants, or vandalize its beauty. This garden is, first and foremost, for
the Bridegroom’s pleasure—for His eyes only.
As we consider this analogy from a spiritual perspective, we see that
the Shulamite has matured to the point where she has become a
completely set-apart vessel of holiness unto the Lord. Through her
close journeying with Him, she has moved into a place where the only
thing that matters now is that her life brings pleasure to the heart of her
King and heavenly Bridegroom.
It is now sufficient for her to have an audience of One. She has become
exclusively His—a garden enclosed and barred from outside influences
that would harm its beauty and purity.
As I was writing, the line of a famous secular song kept springing to
mind: “For your eyes only.” I decided to look it up and noticed that,
when viewed through the lens of the Spirit, it is quite powerful. Why
don’t you go to YouTube and listen to the song? It deals with the
subject of exclusive devotion, and if you do take the time to listen to it,
my prayer is that the Holy Spirit will minister to your heart as He did
mine.
