is truth. My prayer for all of us on the Shulamite journey is that God
would reveal His heart of love and passion for each one.
The key is to keep pursuing and seeking experiential revelation—and
this is what having passionate eyes like gentle doves looks like. As we
fix our eyes on Jesus, our lives shall become increasingly illumined
with the light of His truth about who He is and who we truly are in Him.
In addition, we must take heed and be careful not to focus on the
temporal or the waves surrounding us. In doing so, we take our eyes off
the One who is still in total control and has complete authority—far
above every dark power and principality. We must look only to God,
especially now, as so much darkness surrounds us in the world.

are relentless in our pursuit. Doves are known to have only one mate in
their lives—they are single-focused. We must pray to be people after
God’s own heart, like David.
The final two verses of Chapter One describe the continuing journey of
intimacy with Jesus and how, as we continue to follow wholeheartedly
after God, He will reward us with His captivating and pleasing
presence. We will continue to grow in the knowledge of who He is and
be able to enter a place of peaceful rest because He is trustworthy.
While resting with Him, we will flourish naturally, without self-effort,
and no matter what circumstances we are in or wherever we find
