RADICAL LOVE

in passion for him. He says that the earrings and gem-laden necklaces

set her cheeks ablaze. This speaks of the spiritual gifts and graces that
He gives to her. Her ears and neck are beautified because, instead of

being stiff with stubbornness and unwilling to listen, He knows that she
truly desires to yield to Him.

The Shepherd-King goes on to say in verse 11, “We will enhance your

beauty, encircling you with our golden reins of love. You will be marked
          with our redeeming grace.”

This refers to how the deep love God has for us, together with the
sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit and the redeeming grace of the Lord

Jesus Christ, makes us beautiful in God’s eyes. Notice that although we

can position ourselves, we cannot enhance spiritual beauty within. It is
          God’s work.

Spiritual beauty has a greater impact on people than natural beauty, as
it touches the heart and extends into eternity. In contrast, physical

beauty satisfies the desires of the eyes and the lusts of the flesh, and has

become an idolatrous pursuit for many these days. We do well to
remember this, because the spirit of the world we live in places so much

pressure—especially on women—to remain physically beautiful.

Women, now more than ever, have been misled into believing that

beauty is defined by their clothing, jewelry, or hairstyle. God’s
definition is completely different. In 1 Peter 3:3–4 (TPT), we read:
