RADICAL LOVE
and of us. It is not an easy road, but it is most definitely a worthwhile
one, because the prize is becoming one with Jesus and being carriers of
His presence.
‘Pulling the royal chariot’ is indicative of carrying the glory of God. To
carry God’s glory is costly. The word for ‘glory’ in Hebrew is kabod,
and it means “to carry a burden.” One commentary also said it can
mean: “What Jehovah has given you.” The Israelites had to carry the
components of the tabernacle everywhere God led them in the
wilderness—this was the place of God’s glory, and it weighed 12,000
kg.
It will cost us everything, but that’s nothing compared to what we gain.
We gain Christ and His covenantal promises! Yes, we can rest in this
assurance because of our covenantal standing in Christ through His
blood.
When King Saul and the armies of Israel were being attacked by
Goliath—a huge warrior and giant of a man—his defeat came through
a mere shepherd boy with no physical armor, just five stones and a
sling. David, the young shepherd, did not at any time refer to Goliath
by name, but instead spoke about Goliath’s standing before God and
the army of heavenly hosts. He said: “…for who is this uncircumcised
Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?” (1 Samuel
17:26, KJV)
