for you. And it costs you nothing to give away the audiobook
along with your written book so it’s all profit in your pocket.
But that’s just one way you can leverage your audiobook to
increase your profits. The second way is to sell it as an optional
add-on that your customers can add to their order when they
purchase your book. This is my favorite way to do this. I’ll sell a
book for $3 and offer the audiobook version as an add-on, or an
order bump, for an extra $7-19. Typically roughly 25% of the
people who purchase my books will also add the audiobook
version to their order. If I’m charging $9 for the audiobook and
25% of my customers purchase it that means I’m going to make
an extra $2.25 per person who buys my book which means I
make $5.25 rather than $3 every time I sell a book.
Here’s how that math works: ($9 * .25) + $3 = $5.25
That almost doubles the value per person who buys my book
and no one can complain about doubling profits with almost no
work.
