THE PROSPEROUS WAY

                                 A HEART IN BALANCE

In pursuing success, we cannot neglect the things that bring meaning
to our lives. Our family and friends, times of rest and relaxation, time
spent in God’s presence, growing in our giftings, pursuing our ministry.
Ask yourself then, what price are you prepared to pay? Is it the long-
term relationship with your family? Is it fruitfulness in ministry? Is it
healthy habits and restful sleep? Is it personal time spent with God,
growing in intimacy with Him? When these things are repeatedly
sacrificed in pursuit of success, then success has come at too high a cost.
Then it is time to begin the purposeful and disciplined work, with
strategies such as those suggested later in this book, of bringing our lives
back in balance and correctly aligned with the things that hold true
meaning for us. True prosperity does not come at the cost of prosperity
of the spirit and of the soul.

             • Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in
health, just as your soul prospers. (3 John1:2)

             • If because of the Sabbath, you turn your foot from doing your
own pleasure on My holy day, and call the Sabbath a delight, the
holy day of the Lord honourable, and honour it, desisting from
your ways...then you will take delight in the Lord. And I will make
you ride on the heights of the earth, and I will feed you with the
heritage of Jacob your father. (Isaiah 58:13-14)

             • Do not wear yourself out to get rich; be wise enough to restrain
                 yourself. (Proverbs 23:4; BSB)

             • There was a man all alone; he had neither son nor brother. There
was no end to his toil, yet his eyes were not content with his
wealth…. This too is meaningless, a miserable business.
                 (Ecclesiastes 4:9)

“I know there is nothing better for men
than to be happy and do good while they live.”
                                  (Ecclesiastes 3:12)
