grace of God, choosing their own careers and making
their own decisions.
Another story my mom read to me was the Prodigal Son
found in Luke 15:11–32. It’s about two brothers living
at home with their parents. The younger one said, “Dad,
give me my inheritance now; I’ve got to go find
myself.” He kept bugging his father until he finally said,
"Okay." So, he did just that—sold all he had and divided
it among them. The younger son took his portion and
went off into the sunset.
It wasn’t long before he ran into trouble. Instead of
hanging out with friends, he was dining with pigs. So,
he decided to go back home and ask for forgiveness. His
father was so loving and kind that he welcomed him
home with open arms and prepared a feast to celebrate
his return.
That’s how God loves us. Even when we wander away
from Him, He will forgive us when we ask and receive
us back to Himself.
