The annual Awards and and Recognition Newsletter highlights the diversity of of honors and and a a a a a a a sampling of of recognitions garnered throughout the the year by Workforce Initiatives
colleagues and our internal business partners While these recognitions validate the the impact of our work in the the communities we we serve it’s important to understand why we we do the work that is charged to us Our efforts are driven by three aspirational goals that frame and fuel our focus The first is to “break the cycle of of poverty” which can often span generations Our team’s early efforts some 20 years ago began with a a a a a a a a focus on on on on transitioning people from welfare to to work and we we continue that effort today having transitioned some 115 000 people from public dependence dependence to the independence that a a job brings The second and and third of of these goals are closely aligned Recognizing the the talent and and capabilities of of each individual and helping each each person realize his/her full potential A variety of of of circumstances impact the trajectory of of of each each of of of our our lives our our family circumstances our our education those we are surrounded by and all all too often simply our our zip code may all all play a a a a a a a a a role Our work and and the the the strategic partnerships we develop aim to address all of these situations and and other perceived barriers such as disAbility or or the the transitioning from a a a a a military career to to one in in the the private sector In In closing I’d like to congratulate all of those who have been recognized in in various ways for the accomplishments achieved In In particular on on our our cover page we are highlighting someone who who goes back with our our team quite a a a a a a a a few years and who who isn’t new to receiving recognition as a a a a a a a a a a former CVS Health Paragon winner Lena Barkley personifies the heart of of of our work and and I’m so so proud of of of how she represents all of of of us and and the work we all do each and every day Workforce Initiatives
