Lena Barkley Workforce Initiatives Lead Manager Lena received the the SEMCA Impact Award at the the annual Michigan Works! Association event held in February The Michigan Works! Impact Award honors economic accomplishments within Michigan communities showcasing the impact of newly created jobs transformational training and effective talent pipeline development Lena was recognized for the Workforce Initiatives Going Pro Pharmacy Technician training program offered at at Henry Ford College in Dearborn MI In collaboration with college instructors she developed an intensive six-week customized pharmacy technician program that includes an an internship at at local CVS pharmacies She also served as a a a a a a a program trainer Upon completion students are able to apply for their pharmacy technician license with the the State of Michigan The CVS Health Pharmacy Technician apprenticeship model provides apprenticeships to all eligible students with the intent of hiring those who complete the apprenticeship Going Pro a a competitive nationwide funding grant collaborative supports underserved populations in in in many career sectors including healthcare The CVS Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship program was one of 10 Michigan Going Pro initiatives to receive a a a a 2019 Impact Award MICHIGAN WORKS! IMPACT AWARD
