Joliet Job Corps is a long-standing Workforce Initiatives partner offering a pharmacy technician training program for young adults. The Joliet, Illinois
center features an on-site CVS Health mock pharmacy. Externships, included
in the 18-month training, are provided by CVS pharmacies in the Joliet area. Students who complete the healthcare training can earn national, state and local credentials and licensing. Upon completion, students are eligible to apply for positions with CVS Health.

CVS Health Workforce Initiatives in collaboration with Philadelphia Job Corps, Philadelphia Works and Philadelphia Youth Network opened a mock pharmacy
in November 2018, located in the Philadelphia Job Corps Life Science Institute. This partnership expands work-based learning and externship opportunities for students through a pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship program for pharmacy technicians in the Philadelphia areas. The mock pharmacy supports a 12-week program, including classroom and hands-on field based instruction, aimed at developing life and career skills. Upon completion of the training, eligible students have the opportunity to participate in an externship at a local CVS store. Students receive a certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board, and then are able to apply for a position with CVS Pharmacy.
