MICHIGAN • PENNSYLVANIA • TENNESSEE • VIRGINIA
MICHIGAN – Lena Barkley
Michigan Career and Technical Institute (MCTI) – Plainwell, MI (Mock Store & Pharmacy)
The Michigan Career and Technical Institute, one of eight National Consortium of State Operated Centers in the United States, is the second largest rehabilitation training center in the country. CVS Health Workforce Initiatives partnered with MCTI to establish CVS Health customer service and pharmacy training programs in the existing simulated training facility. The mock facility provides job skill training to individuals with disabilities who are served by the center. Upon completion of customer service and pharmacy programs, individuals may apply for employment with CVS Health.
PENNSYLVANIA – John White
Hiram G. Andrews – Johnstown, PA (Mock Pharmacy)
The Andrews Center is a comprehensive facility offering pre-employment transition services resulting in employment and independence for persons with disabilities. The CVS Health Workforce Initiatives mock pharmacy in partnership with the Andrews Center trains people with disabilities to work as cashiers and pharmacy technicians, leading to employment opportunities with CVS Health. They then receive hands- on-training in an externship at a Pennsylvania CVS Store. The Hiram G. Andrews Center is one of eight National Consortium of State Operated Comprehensive Rehabilitation Centers in the United States.
TENNESSEE – Duane Rohr
Tennessee Rehabilitative Center (TRC) – Smyrna, TN (Mock Pharmacy)
The CVS Health Workforce Initiatives mock pharmacy at the Tennessee Rehabilitative Center, opened in 2019, helps individuals with disabilities train for jobs in the health care industry. TRC students receive CVS Health job training in customer care and pharmacy technology. All students who complete the program have the opportunity to apply for a position with CVS Health. TRC Smyrna, first in the state, is one of eight National Consortium State Operated Rehabilitation Centers in the nation providing training for customers of vocational rehabilitation programs who are seeking employment opportunities within their home communities.
VIRGINIA – Stacey Butler
Woodrow Wilson Workforce and Rehabilitation Center – Fishersville, VA
On April 11, 2016, the Wilson Workforce & Rehabilitation Center celebrated the graduation of the first four students to complete the CVS Health Workforce Initiatives training program for people with disabilities. Also, the event marked the opening of an onsite CVS Health mock pharmacy at WWRC. The Workforce Initiatives innovative job training program, in collaboration with WWRC, prepares Virginians with disabilities for employment with CVS Health. Students come from the entire Commonwealth of Virginia to train in the program on campus and then return to their hometown to find employment. The Wilson Center is one of eight National Consortium State Operated Rehabilitation Centers in the United States.
