Simulated Facilities in Vocational Rehabilitation Centers

ARKANSAS – Mike Romesburg
Arkansas Career Training Institute (ACTI) Hot Springs, Arkansas (Mock Store)
The CVS Health Workforce Initiatives mock store, located in the ACTI, opened in 2017. The store provides vocational training for students with disabilities and can lead to front store employment opportunities at CVS pharmacies. More than 400 students served by Arkansas Rehabilitation Services, are enrolled at the ACTI, one of eight National Consortium of State Operated Rehabilitation Centers in the United States.
GEORGIA – Mike Romesburg
Roosevelt Rehabilitation Center – Warm Spring, GA (Mock Store)
In partnership with the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Association, CVS Health Workforce Initiatives offers customer service skills training to special needs youth at the Roosevelt Rehabilitation Center in Warm Springs, GA. The CVS mock store, opened on site in 2018, provides training for students led by counselors who have been trained in CVS procedures. The program prepares students for a five-week externship in a CVS store. Upon completion, students are eligible to apply for employment at a CVS store in the Atlanta area. The Roosevelt Rehabilitation Center is one of eight National Consortium State Operated Rehabilitation Centers in the country.
KENTUCKY – Mike Romesburg
Carl D. Perkins Vocational Training Center—Thelma, KY (Mock Store and Pharmacy)
The first mock pharmacy in Kentucky opened in 2018 at the Carl D. Perkins Vocational Training Center. In partnership with CVS Health Workforce Initiatives, Kentucky’s first CVS Health collaboration trains Kentuckians with disabilities for employment at CVS pharmacy stores. CVS Health provides
the Perkins Center with curriculum, inventory and mock pharmacy store setup for hands-on job skills training, including customer service and cash register proficiency. The Perkins Center is one of eight National Consortium of State Operated Centers in the United States.
MARYLAND – Stacey Butler
Workforce Technology Rehabilitation Center (WTC) – Baltimore, MD (Mock Store)
CVS Health Workforce Initiatives opened a mock store in the Workforce Technology Rehabilitation Center (WTC) in Baltimore, MD in 2018. The WTC is a facility that offers services to help people with disabilities get ready for work, offering customized training curriculums to meet the needs of specific employers, including registered apprenticeships. The CVS Health partnership with WTC provides a 10-week program for students interested in working in the retail industry. Included in the training is classroom study, practice in the on-site mock CVS store, and actual work experience in a Baltimore area CVS store. Upon completion of program, individuals are eligible to apply for employment at CVS stores. WTC is one of eight National Consortium of State Operated Comprehensive Rehabilitation Centers in the United States.
