PENNSYLVANIA – Duane Rohr
Kensington Health & Science Academy - Philadelphia, PA
The CVS Health Retail Pharmacy Technician apprenticeship program in partnership with Philadelphia Works, Philadelphia Job Corps Life Sciences Institute and Kensington Health and Science Academy provides apprenticeship opportunities to the Philadelphia region. The mock pharmacy located on-site at the Kensington Health and Science Academy assists students in completing the competency based program. CVS Health pharmacy technician positions include the completion of a 120 hour externship experience in a CVS pharmacy retail location, 2000 on- the-job hours, and 175 hours of related instruction.
OHIO – Heather Mauk
Jackson High School – Massillon, OH
A program offered at Jackson High School prepares special education students for employment in a retail setting. The on-site CVS Health Workforce Initiatives mock store provides customer service and cash register training. Students also receive hands-on work experience at a Massillon CVS pharmacy. Students who successfully complete the classes may be able to apply for employment at a CVS store.
Ohio Area High Schools (Aiken, Akron, Brunswick, Perry, Worthington)
The CVS Health Workforce Initiatives partnership with these high schools provides the CVS retail training curriculum to students with disabilities. The program helps students to gain skills needed to enter the workforce. The retail training includes customer service, cash register and merchandising competencies. Students also participate in externship work experiences at local CVS pharmacies. Upon completion of the year-long program, students are eligible to apply for a job with CVS Health.
Polaris Career Center High School – Middleburgh Heights, OH
The CVS Workforce Initiatives mock store located inside the Polaris Career Center High School provides realistic training for students with disabilities enrolled in the Retail Services program. Retail Services is a one-year course offered at the school, where students learn retail job
skills while working in the CVS store setting. Training includes customer service, cash register operations, store stocking and inventory. Upon successful completion of the program, students may apply for employment with CVS Health.
